AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION

Over the last four years, my writing ability and skills have grown due to new opportunities and experiences. I have honed my skills to accompany my career path, by making an effort to become a more effective writer, as well as taking my own photos to accompany stories. Each section below highlights my experience in each of those areas.

WRITING

For almost three years, I have written breaking news, enterprise, and feature stories for the Lampasas Dispatch Record. I have included some of my favorite, important, and unique stories written during my time with the Dispatch Record in the link below.

Despite being hired originally as a freelance writer to provide extra coverage for local events, I have become a staff writer, with an emphasis on local news of my hometown, Lometa. I also provide agribusiness coverage for the newspaper, due to my background and education in Agricultural Communications and Journalism.

PHOTOGRAPHY

My time at the Dispatch Record has been helped me learn photography to accompany most feature stories. Originally using a company camera, I invested in my own, to enhance my ability to take photographs.

As I have learned more, and had an opportunity to practice, my capability behind the camera has improved. This has opened new opportunities for me, including the opportunity to photograph sporting events, livestock shows, and breaking news events. My work was also featured in the 2024 Summer Edition of Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine.
